Do you have enough Co2?

It's very important to make sure you have enough Co2 in your tank because "When you're out of Co2, you're out of beer" and that's a bad thing.  A safe formula for Co2 use is a pound of Co2 per 1/2 barrel of beer, which means a standard 5 lb Co2 tank should be plenty to dispense 5-1/2 barrels of beer. If your using 1/4 barrels, it should be plenty to dispense 10-1/4 barrels of beer. Wholesaledraft only sells New Co2 Aluminum Co2 tanks, our #0305, which when empty weigh 7 lbs (if you have a steel tank, weights will vary). If you were to weigh your Co2 tank after you get it filled it will weigh 12 lbs. So, say you have a party that you want to make sure you have enough gas for, remove your regulator and weigh your tank. If your tank weighs 9 lbs you know you have gas to dispense 2-1/2 barrels of beer. Of coarse the safest way to insure never running out of Co2 is to purchase an extra tank and then always make sure you get that tank filled!

Never running out of Co2 is a good thing!

Do I have a defective Co2 Regulator?

A Co2 primary regulator, our #0709 or #0710, is a very important component to any draft beer installation.  Always make sure your Primary regulator, the regulator which mounts on your Co2 tank, is meant for dispensing beer and comes complete with a safety device mounted on the body of the regulator which will blow at 50-60 psi..  If for some reason your regulator dispenses too much Co2, into your barrel of beer, this safety will release and not allow dangerous pressure levels into your barrel. Your beer regulator function is also important in maintaining a constant pressure on your barrel.  What if my regulator pressure fluctuates?  This can cause over carbonation, excessive foam, or under carbonation, flat beer.

There are many effects your regulator can cause and we'll talk more on those in the future.

Beer Faucet Very Important Component

Ever wonder why you can pour a good draft beer but your quests struggle?  It's very important to instruct them the proper way to dispense draft beer.  Many people approach the beer faucet very tentatively and are afraid to open it with authority.  When you do not open the beer faucet quickly and all the the way open, the beer will swirl and dispense foamy.  You must instruct them to be assertive and open it all the way in one quick motion.  Keeping your faucet clean is also very important.  Yeast will build up quickly in the faucet because this is the only component that is not refrigerated.  By removing your faucet and cleaning in beer line cleaner solution or warm water will prevent obstructions which can cause foam.
